Wigwam Village News

Well the wigwam village has now been extended and we now have 20 wooden wigwams, two small yurts and 1 large yurt. Bookings for the summer have been tremendous so if you are thinking of coming to visit us for a couple of nights, get on the phone now as there are only limited nights left for the summer holidays. The new part of the site is looking good with fantastic views out to sea and to Berwick upon Tweed. We have put a fence around the new site just to shelter our guests from the sea breezes but it does not take anything away from the tremendous views of Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle. We have added on, in that section, a toilet block which will be handy for those who do not need to go to the shower block specifically. There is a toilet for the "Braves" and one for the "Squaws". We are awaiting the arrival of another BBQ Hut and when that arrives John, Kerry and Sam will get their tool kit out and get it made up as it is flat packed, and then it will be ready to hire out on the same terms as the other two.

Group Packages

We have put together a group package information program which can be downloaded at www.northumbrianwigwams.com. We hope that this package may encourage school groups, social clubs, sports clubs and church groups plus many others to use our facilities during our quieter times. All the information as to facilities on site, prices and other activities outside the centre are within the package. Email Newsletter

We are trying our hand at being more technical and are now sending out an email newsletter at least twice a year just to let our existing customers know whats happening at Pot-a-doodle Do. If you want to be added to our existing database, then please let christine know at info@northumbrianwigwams.com

Shop

Christine Ruddick has been busy sourcing lots of new gifts and foods for the Country Shop. She has lots of interesting books to choose from, some of them are walking books of the area which have proved to be very popular with our walkers. She has also sourced Purdies of Argyll Shower Gels, Body Lotions and Soaps. As usual for the children we have a good selection of Pocket Money toys and books. Come in and browse around and Christine will be happy to help you should you need assistance.

BEST BOREWELL BEEF

Sales of our own beef both in the shop and by e mail have gone from strength to strength.  orders can be taken in the shop, by phone or email. This is pure Aberdeen Angus Beef at its best.  Come along and see for yourself.

HAMPERS OF YOUR CHOICE NOW BEING MADE

Christine is now taking orders for Christmas Hampers. Choose from the wide range of goodies we have in the Country Shop and Christine will pack and wrap the perfect Christmas present for you. TEAM NEWS

Well we are heading into another busy summer season with lots of campers comig to see us.over.

We welcome Gillian Taylor as our new Cafe Bistro Assistant. Gillian joined us at the beginning of February and has already made her mark within the Cafe-Bistro. Nikki is back from her gap year travels and continues to help in the centre whereever she is needed and also has excellent administration skills dealing with websites and databases. I am sure that we will all work together as a good team with our priority being excellent customer service.

Deborah Fell is still enticing us with her delicious home made soups and daily specials. Sales of ready made meals in the shop have been very successful especially with our wigwam visitors. Now in microwaveable containers they are much handier as they can be taken straight from the freezer and go straight into the microwave.  We have some new varieties in the freezer, e.g. Beef Tikka Masala, Beef Rogan Josh, Thai Green Chicken Curry .

There are alot of new figures to paint in the art centre. Lesley has once again bought in some different moulds to add variety to her already extensive range.  Why not come along and personalise a plate or mug or give one as a gift for birthday presents.

There are alot of new gift ideas in the shop for you to choose from.  We have costume jewellery which has been very popular together with several high quality scarves and matching clutch bags. We also have glass bottle openers, paper knives and bottle stoppers all in gift boxes- an ideal gift.  Farmyard Cards and Prints from Alex Clarke, Mugs with matching trays and a great selection of biscuit tins, metal jugs and peg buckets to match. We also have a selection of high quality slate table mats and coasters from the 'Just Slate Company' - a perfect wedding gift! 

QUAD BIKES ARE OUT IN ACTION AGAIN!

Despite the awful weather that we had at the beginning of the year the Quad Bikes are once again out in action. A 30 minute supervised trek takes you through parts of our farm to give you fantastic views of the beautiful coastline where we are luck yo live. Ages from 8 years up to adults so the whole family can go together. Book early so that you are not disappointed.

AVRIL THE ABERDEEN ANGUS COW

Avril the cow and her sisters and friends are all grazing down at the beach at the moment. There could be quite a few changes within our herd in the next few years as John and Dan have been in Canada at the Aberdeen Angus Forum and have come back with lots of different ideas. Frozen Embryos are being sent over from Calgary and these will be implanted into some of our cows with a view to adding quality and variety to our pedigree herd. We are now having two calvings per year, one in March and one in September. If you are ever down at the beach take time to stop and have a look at the cows. They are a very friendly bunch. Autumn calving starts late August- a first for us so we are very excited about this. Some of these are embryo transplants so it is all new for us. We will let you know how we get on in the next newsletter.
